Tips for U5 and U6 Coaches – Spring 2009

Dear Coaches,

Welcome to the Spring 2009 soccer season.   Here are a few tips:

Field Location – Due to the 11 Mile Road construction, all games will be played in Berkley.   The field is located on Catalpa, east of Coolidge, across from Berkley High School.   We will be using the area north of the maintenance building.   Two fields will be available.   Please leave a small footprint and be kind to our hosts by keeping the area clean.

Uniforms – Jersey’s do not need to be collected at the end of the season.   The players get to keep them J

Rules and Regulations – These have been updated and are available on-line at www.berkleysoccer.com .

Scheduling – Due to the large number of games and limited field availability, it is very difficult to reschedule games.   Head coaches should use their assistant coaches or team manager when personal conflicts occur.

Miscellaneous – Coaches, please contact your team in a timely fashion.   As we all know, Spring is a busy time for us all and most families are eager to solidify their schedules.

Lending Library – I have several soccer books and DVD’s available if anyone is interested in borrowing them.   Please contact me for details.

Practices – Most coaches have one practice a week, but in the end, it is up to you to decide what works best for you and your team.   Pick the day and time that is convenient for you.   The location is up to you also.   Per our rules and regulations, the playing fields are not to be used for practices.

Pictures – Pictures for new teams will be Wednesday, April 29.   Location and times will be announced via e-mail.
